Research indicates that walking is the more effective method for fall prevention than balance training. Once a person becomes sedentary, it can be difficult to begin activity again. The fear and risk of falling are real for many aging loved ones. Our goal is to eliminate this fear by giving everyone training and re-establish confidence. Our classes start slow and build with each individual. We review fall prevention, getting up from falls and how to correctly use walk assisting devices. Our program “Walking for Better Balance” strives to improve posture, balance, gait, and safe mobility. We work to produce improvement in each person’s confidence and in their ability to stand and walk. Reaction time and coordination will improve as well as cardiovascular health. Other benefits include reduced risk of diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Many program participant’s report feeling better, sleeping better, having more energy and being more productive.
Our trainers will design an appropriate exercise program that meets the needs of the class. For more information about bringing the Indoor/Outdoor Walking for Better Class to your location, Information Form
